3rd YEAR – CAREER PREPARATION

3rd YEAR – CAREER PREPARATION

The “Career Preparation” 3rd year is a program designed for motivated students who wish to move towards the vocational track under the best conditions. While continuing to acquire the common foundation of knowledge, skills, and culture, it allows them to strengthen their career and vocational training discovery through specific instruction and up to five weeks of internship in a professional environment.

Students in the “Career Preparation” class generally take the National Diploma (DNB) – vocational pathway. After this class, students have access to all the orientation paths open to other 9th-grade students, but they are mainly prepared to continue in the vocational track (vocational high school or CAP under school status).

COURSE CONTENT

This program offers motivated students, after completing the 8th grade, an introduction to various professional environments while supporting them in shaping their career path, particularly towards the vocational route. The 3rd year “Career Preparation” class is part of the personalized learning approach.
As with all 9th-grade classes, the curriculum aims at mastering the common foundation of knowledge, skills, and culture.

A professional and personal development pathway
Following the 8th grade, the goal is to provide both girls and boys with education and professional discovery experiences, preparing them to continue in vocational high school to obtain a Vocational Baccalaureate (BAC PRO) or a CAP qualification.

At the end of this year, the student will be able to:
 • Choose a path toward an industrial training program.
 • Choose a path toward a service or business training program.
 • Choose a path toward training in personal care professions.

During the 8th grade, a personalized interview based on the student’s motivation and academic progress will take place with the main teacher and, if necessary, other members of the educational team. This meeting allows the student and their family to review and refine their career plan.

Following this discussion, the student and their guardians may formally request admission to the “Career Preparation” 3rd year during the final orientation process decided at the end of 8th grade.

WHAT’S NEXT? CAREER PATHS AND FURTHER STUDIES

After completing the “Career Preparation” 3rd year, students follow the same orientation process as others.
They most often continue towards a vocational 10th grade, but nothing prevents them from pursuing general or technological studies if they wish.

The “Career Preparation” 3rd year is intended especially for motivated students who wish to explore several professions
to build their career plan towards the vocational track.
