11th and 12th Grade – General Pathway

High school students preparing for the General Baccalaureate build their academic path according to their interests and ambitions.
You choose your specialized subjects and electives starting in 11th grade.
This organization promotes success in higher education, which is the main goal of the general pathway. The curriculum includes core subjects, specialized subjects, and optional courses over two years.

CORE SUBJECTS

Around 16 hours per week in 11th grade and 15.5 hours in 12th grade, students take the following core subjects:
 • French (11th grade only)
 • Philosophy (12th grade only)
 • History and Geography
 • Moral and Civic Education
 • Modern Languages A and B
 • Physical Education and Sports
 • Scientific Education: coding, artificial intelligence, bioethics, and major environmental issues.

SPECIALIZED SUBJECTS

SPECIALIZED SUBJECTS IN 11TH AND 12TH GRADE – GENERAL PATHWAY

PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY
This specialty course introduces students to key concepts such as the composition and transformation of matter, energy (conversion and transfer), waves and signals, and motion and interactions. The selected areas of application provide students with a concrete, lively, and modern image of physics and chemistry. This course emphasizes experimentation and restores the importance of modeling and the mathematical formulation of physical laws.

MATHEMATICS
This specialty allows students to deepen their understanding of algebra and geometry, analysis, probability, algorithms, and programming.
The course also includes elements of the history of mathematics to explain the emergence and evolution of concepts, helping students develop abstraction and strengthen their algebraic calculation skills. The use of software tools, simulations, and programming promotes experimentation and real-world problem-solving.

LIFE AND EARTH SCIENCES (SVT)
This specialty enables students to explore topics such as the Earth, life, and the evolution of living organisms, global environmental issues, the human body, and health.
It helps students better understand how their bodies function, reflect on public health issues, and engage in ethical and civic thinking about society and the environment.

ENGLISH – CONTEMPORARY WORLD
The main objective of this specialty is to develop students’ communication skills through language activities and reinforcement of linguistic competence. Particular attention is given to oral communication (comprehension, expression, interaction). Gaining confidence in public speaking (presentations, debates, informal discussions, etc.) is a key goal of this course.

HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, GEOPOLITICS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE
This specialty provides keys to understanding the modern world through the study of major political, social, and economic issues.
Each topic encourages both the analysis of contemporary challenges and a historical and geographical perspective to understand the evolution of political questions.
This specialty prepares students for a wide range of higher education programs: universities, political science institutes, journalism, business, and management schools.

HUMANITIES, LITERATURE AND PHILOSOPHY
This specialty aims to provide students with cultural and historical knowledge, fostering critical thinking and awareness of contemporary global issues.
It also equips students with the cultural background necessary for studies in the humanities, political science, law, and the arts.
This course encourages autonomy of thought, methodological rigor, assimilation of knowledge, high-quality written expression, and logical reasoning.

ECONOMICS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
This specialty deepens students’ understanding of key concepts, methods, and issues in economics, sociology, and political science. It sheds light on major contemporary economic, social, and political challenges.
By strengthening microeconomic approaches and introducing interdisciplinary perspectives, this course enhances students’ economic and sociological literacy.

The General and Technological 10th Grade is designed to help students consolidate and expand their mastery of the common base of knowledge, skills, and culture in order to successfully transition from middle school to high school.
